Life-Giving Repentance
In this homily, we’re reminded that Jesus isn’t just talking about titles like “father” and “teacher” — He’s calling us to put God first in our lives. During Lent, repentance isn’t something heavy or discouraging, but a gift. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches and Saint Peter proclaims in the Acts of the Apostles, even the grace to repent comes from God. Beginning prayer with a humble “Lord, I’m sorry” opens the door to His mercy and brings peace, joy, and freedom in His love.
